COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the economy, financial markets, and businesses -- affecting the values associated with many companies and assets. During the April 17 presentation, Josette Ferrer, Managing Director at Clairent Advisors, will  provide background on valuation considerations and approaches, and will discuss the valuation impact of COVID-19, including the following:

  • General valuation considerations associated with a variety of situations -- including tax planning, financial reporting, M&A, and disputes/litigation

  • The valuation engagement process, and a detailed overview of the Income Approach and Market Approaches (Guideline Public Company Method and Guideline Transactions Method)

  • Review of the impact of COVID-19 on markets, industries, and goodwill and intangible asset impairments

  • Specific considerations associated with each valuation approach to consider the risk and uncertainty related to COVID-19

  • Review of a comprehensive case study involving the valuation of a private company impacted by COVID-19. In the case study, the application of each approach will be examined in detail – including how specific assumptions were changed/modified to reflect pandemic-specific considerations.

  • With recent progress related to vaccinations and cities beginning to open up, how are these developments impacting current valuation assumptions?
